The latest issue of the higly prestiged journal of the Orders And Medals Society of America (OMSA) – JOMSA, includes an article by our Fellow Member Russell Furtado on the Medals of the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (Portuguese Institute of Sea Rescue).
The eminent author – a luso-american by descent, born in Fall River, Massachusetts -, is a member of OMSA and a founding academic of A.F.P., a researcher and a fine collector, with a special interest in Portuguese Phaleristics, to which he has dedicated several articles published over the last years in JOMSA.
An active participant in OMSA Annual Conventions over the years, in which he has presented several exhibits widely praised and that received awards. The presente article is based on the exhibit the Author presented at OMSA Annual Convention 2013, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on the Medals of the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos.
A word of appraisal for this valuable contribution for the widespread of Portuguese Phalersitics abroad, to which Russell Furtado has dedicated much of his activity and efforts.
