IV Meeting of European Phaleristics Societies – Lisbon, October, 21 -24, 2010
We are happy to announce that the Portuguese Phaleristics Academy (Academia Falerística de Portugal) will organize the IV Meeting of European Phaleristics Societies, in Lisbon on October, 20 – 24, 2010.
The Orders and Medals Society of Denmark took the initiative of organizing in 2005, at Copenhagen, the I Meeting of European Phaleristic Societies. In 2006, Brussels staged the II European Meeting organized by the Belgian Society – Studiekring Faleristiek vzw – SKF. Finally, in 2009, the III Meeting took place at Geneva, organized by the Société Suisse de Phaléristique – SSP.
Some of our members who attended these Meetings were asked about the possibility of organizing the next event in Lisbon and the answer was positive since the setting up of our Academy was already under way.
The Academia Falerística de Portugal gathering amateurs, collectors and researchers on Phaleristics (insignia of military orders, orders of Knighthood and of Merit, medals and decorations) accepted the challenge of organizing the IV Meeting, next October in Lisbon.
We expect participation of members from several European associations, namely, Belgium, France, Denmark, Switzerland and The Netherlands, apart from other participants from Italy, Spain and the USA.
According to the Provisional Program, the Meeting – 20th. 24th October 2010, will include, apart from a welcoming ceremony, the opening of an Exhibition of Portuguese Phaleristics, 3-4 Conferences, guided Visits to 3-4 several important Public Museums with outstanding Phaleristic Collections and a closing Gala Dinner.
Soon the Final Program will be disclosed.
