Le mercredi 20 juin 2012 à Drouot Richelieu, la Société de Ventes Volontaires Damien Libert organisait une vente comprenant notamment un ensemble de décorations et d’ordres de chevalier en provenance des familles Richelieu, La Rochefoulcauld et alliés.
La plus haute enchère a été portée sur un exceptionnel ensemble de chevalier de l’Ordre de Saint-André, adjugé 1 734 880 € frais compris.
Insignia of Russian Orders and Medals continue to reach record prices at auctions, specially when they come from a known provenance and dated from the end of the XVIII c. beginning of the XIX c.!
This splendid set included: the Collar – 1,50 m long, with 23 links in chiselled gold and ennamels, representing 9 Crowned Imperial Bicephalous Eagles, 7 medallions with the Cross of St. Andrew and 7 escutcheons with the crowned monogram of Peter I upon a throphy of arms; Sash with Badge; and an embroidered Star . The price attained over 1.700.000 €!
